Macaulay College was founded by artists and educators Roland Engebretsen and Rebecca Lindsay in 2010.

The start up of Macaulay College was funded by sales of eggs from our 400 free range hens, with members involved in the entire process of free range egg production: from the purchase of hens and their daily care, through to the processing, packaging and delivery of eggs.

Members also took part in the initial stages of setting up the college: helping to build and customise the new college building (housing an indoor project space and kitchen), designing and making signs, landscaping the area and erecting and planting the polytunnel.
